Jonathan Sharpes, LMFT


Young adults and adults are experiencing much more anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges than in the past. Life has become more stressful for many of us and sometimes you need a talented and compassionate guide who can equip and support you well. Jonathan Sharpes is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in helping individuals between the ages of 14 to 60 navigate life transitions and develop self-confidence to address their needs, desires, values, and goals. His therapy techniques are designed to help individuals identify and process internal conflicts and limiting beliefs.

Jonathan firmly believes in the healing power of family relationships. He focuses on aiding couples and families to resolve issues through a deeper understanding of the problems disrupting their family system. His clients learn effective communication strategies, boundary setting, and develop healthy expectations to enhance family connections.

He has extensive experience assisting a range of individuals, including overfunctioners who struggle to set boundaries, people experiencing a loss of meaning and purpose, individuals having difficulties forming and maintaining personal relationships, and people seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. He also provides therapy for social anxiety, Adult ADHD, and relationship traumas.

Jonathan has a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University and is licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee (1444). He also holds a BA in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Multicultural Studies from Trevecca Nazarene University. He brings years of experience working with undergraduate & graduate students and years of experience working with couples & families to his practice. His professional experience also includes years of crisis assessment and intervention.

He has given talks at about the indicators of healthy versus unhealthy and abusive relationships, as well as ADHD and Emotion Regulation, and Building Resilience. Jonathan holds certification in the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) and is TF-CBT Certified. He is also trained in Internal Family Systems and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys a range of music, with favorites like Ethel Cain, The Beths, Be Your Own Pet, KAMAUU, Chappell Roan, Black Sabbath and Queen. He is a fan of movies such as Revolutionary Road, Rachel Getting Married, August: Osage County, Doubt, Women Talking and Her. He also enjoys TV shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Succession, Veep, The Boys, Catastrophe, Fleabag, Shameless, and Girls.
