Allie Lawrence, MAT, MSW embarked on her journey in education in 2014 as a special education teacher with Teach For America. Following the completion of her MAT in Special Education, she furthered her commitment to supporting diverse learners by earning a Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Over the past seven years, Allie has served as a high school counselor in Nashville, diligently ensuring that every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential. She is warm, empathetic and dedicated to building a trusting relationship with every child she works with. In her downtime, Allie enjoys cooking, playing soccer, and spending time with her husband and newborn baby!
At Southeast Psych Nashville, Allie provides executive functioning coaching, a program designed to spotlight students’ strengths, support their needs and empower them towards independence. This comprehensive approach begins with identifying the positive aspects of a student’s learning experience. We then customize a program that shapes students’ behaviors and develops skills and strategies that are aligned to their learning style.
Each session may involve reviewing class assignments, discussing effective study techniques, creating structured plans to manage large assignments, and establishing organizational systems and schedules. There is also discussion regarding the higher order processing skills needed to complete these tasks. Continuous self-reflection is integral, as the program’s goal is to provide scaffolded support and gradually foster a student’s independence. Allie believes that all students have the capacity to excel, and she is committed to uncovering the plan to help them achieve their goals.
